The PSOE of Teguise has criticized that "almost two years after the Water Consortium requested the inter-administrative cooperation from the Government of Teguise for the execution of the project to improve agricultural water distribution networks between El Cuchillo-Soo and Muñique-Soo, they have not yet proceeded to authorize it when, in addition, in a recent plenary session, they confirmed that they had done so".
The socialist group explains that, through its spokesperson Marcos Bergaz, he asked at the last plenary session about this project, "fundamental for the primary sector of Teguise". “Regarding the inter-administrative collaboration Muñique-Soo, Soo-El Cuchillo, was it already granted by the Teguise City Council? I say this because of the need to undertake these important works for the island and Teguise agriculture (…).”, Bergaz then stated.
In this regard, he indicates that "the government of Oswaldo Betancort affirmed in writing its concession, with a forceful: 'Yes, the collaboration has already been granted by the City Council'”. However, the socialists denounce that "said authorization has not occurred, so the execution of such a necessary project is still awaiting the Teguise Council".
“It is incredible, we will not talk about lying, but the truth is that they confirmed to us in writing that they had authorized the project that will benefit the countryside of Muñique, Soo and El Cuchillo, and almost two years later, they have not done so, in an unjustifiable oversight”, says Marcos Bergaz.
“Last November we demanded that they get their act together with this authorization, and it is surprising that five months later they are still waiting for the government of Oswaldo Betancort for an authorization requested in June 2019”, continues Bergaz.
"History repeats itself"
From the socialist ranks they regret that “the neglect of the Oswaldo government with agricultural water is repeated”, since Bergaz recalls that “they already took three years to authorize the project for the northern line and, yes, they had no qualms in publicizing the great achievement of granting cooperation years later and demanding that the works begin the next day, in an exercise of double standards”.
In the opinion of the councilor, “there are numerous complaints from farmers in the municipality for not being able to have agricultural water, denying them the possibility of having an agricultural meter, or the usual cuts and lack of power of the water supplied”.
"While this is happening, the government group of Teguise either does not grant the permits for the works to be carried out - as in this case - or congratulates itself for authorizing it three years later as happened with the northern line”, he adds.
A budget of half a million euros
Regarding the project to improve agricultural water distribution networks between El Cuchillo-Soo and Muñique-Soo, he explains that, as stated on the Water Consortium website, it has a budget of half a million euros.
This action consists "in replacing the existing pipes with more modern ones of 110 millimeters". "In El Cuchillo they have a diameter of 90 millimeters, while in the Soo area the diameter is 63 millimeters. In total, they will extend for 6,398 meters of pipe that will benefit the farmers of the area and that will also allow other people who are dedicated to the primary sector to connect to the network", it is detailed.
