The PP proposes works in Arrecife to create 250 jobs

The Popular Party has demanded that the mayor of Arrecife, the socialist Enrique Pérez Parrilla, and the councilor for Finance and Urbanism, José Miguel Rodríguez (PIL), "not fall asleep" so that the Consistory does not lose the more than 10 million euros that correspond to the municipality from the State Special Fund for the Dynamization of the Economy and Employment, which is endowed for all of Spain with 8,000 million euros, so that they can be used to create 250 jobs to carry out the construction of different public infrastructures.

"The first concern that the municipal corporation should have is to enable the generation of employment and, specifically, the creation of 250 new jobs in Arrecife, considering that in Lanzarote unemployment is estimated at 12,649 people, of which 6,000 correspond to the capital", propose from the Popular Party.

The Arrecife City Council may obtain resources from the Fund of more than 10 million euros, with the particularity that the projects submitted cannot exceed 5 million euros and must be completed before the first quarter of 2010.

To benefit from these economic resources, the Arrecife consistory must submit the financing request for each project between December 10, 2008 and January 24, 2009. Although "the fear of the Popular Party of Arrecife is that, given the neglect and passivity of the Government Group of PIL and PSOE, they are not capable or, what is worse, they do not take care of carrying out the necessary procedures and Arrecife loses the 10 million euros for investments, which the municipality needs", point out from the PP.

Deadlines and procedures

The Popular Party reminds both the Arrecife mayor, Pérez Parrilla, and the councilors of Works and Services, Alberto Morales, and of Finance and Urbanism, José Miguel Rodríguez, that "before the aforementioned date of January 24, 2009, the City Council must submit to the Subdelegation of the Government the projects, investment budget and expected award period of each of them, forecast of people to be employed in the execution of the projects, certification that it is a work not foreseen in the consistory's budget for the year 2009 and the corresponding agreement of the Plenary in which the project is approved".

"Taking into account the indisputable situation of general crisis that is suffered and that directly affects the vast majority of the residents of Arrecife, taking into consideration the important infrastructure needs suffered by the municipality, the Popular Party understands that the Arrecife City Council must immediately prepare a priority plan of actions to be proposed for financing by the aforementioned State Special Fund for the Dynamization of the Economy and Employment", point out from the Popular Party.

And it is that in the opinion of the popular the referred plan must have special concern in the creation of jobs, including the most necessary actions for the neighbors in terms of the infrastructures to be created.

The proposed plans

"Unless better justified criteria of the Government of PIL and PSOE, the Popular Party proposes the same action plans that it already presented as amendments to the Municipal Budget for 2008, which was rejected by the government group of government", declare from the PP. These action plans are specified in a Street Asphalting Plan, Municipal Plan of Children's Parks, Municipal Plan of Parks and Gardens, Sidewalk Plan, Public Lighting Plan, Sectorial Plan for the Suppression of Architectural Barriers, Sports Facilities Plan, the construction of the sociocultural centers of Titerroy and Argana Alta, improvement works in public schools, construction of the Center for Minors of Arrecife as well as the works of the Municipal Funeral Home.
