The councilors of the Popular Party in the Yaiza City Council, Juan Monzón and Guayo Rodríguez, have demanded "more institutional respect" from the government presided over by Óscar Noda towards the Municipal Music Band "upon learning that the Department of Festivities has relegated the musical formation from the celebration of the procession in honor of San Marcial that will be held in Femés this coming Sunday, July 7".
According to the populars, "the area directed by Javier Camacho has programmed the procession to be accompanied by the Agaete Band". a group against which the PP councilors point out that "obviously they have nothing bad to say". "What we don't think is right is that while our musicians have been preparing for months for the procession season of the summer period, they have to see how they are not counted on for one of the most important processions on the calendar. Not in vain, San Marcial del Rubicón is not only the patron saint of Lanzarote, but also of the Canary Islands", they point out.
Thus, the populars of Yaiza believe that "once again the government group of UPY, now supported by the Canarian Coalition, mistreats and despises our groups, looking outside and paying" for what they already have in the municipality "and without cost".
In this sense, they affirm that "the Municipal Music Band has been neglected for years, without the Department of Culture that Daniel Medina has taken up again having adopted measures to solve its needs". "The lack of uniforms, the maintenance of instruments and materials, as well as the little involvement of the Department to promote the incorporation of more children and young people are part of the severe problem that the group drags", they point out.
Therefore, from the PP they urge the government group "to remedy this grievance, inviting the Municipal Band to participate in the procession jointly with the contracted band", which they consider "would even give greater category to the procession of the Patron Saint".
