The PP denounces that the Cabildo of Lanzarote is among the “worst payers in the Canary Islands” to its suppliers

The popular ones emphasize that it takes an average of almost 50 days to pay, "thus failing to comply with the Budgetary Stability Law"

"The Cabildo of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, managed by PSOE and Podemos, once again appears among the local entities that are most delayed in paying their suppliers and when companies are precisely having serious liquidity problems." This is what the Popular Party has denounced, which was part of the government of the island institution until two months ago.

"The first island institution has an average payment period of 49 days, 19% above the legally established period, according to the latest data provided by the Ministry of Finance on local entities," the popular ones emphasize.

"In this way, the Cabildo presided over by Dolores Corujo once again fails to comply with the Budgetary Stability Law, which establishes a period of 30 days for payment, and places the first Island institution as a 'slow' administration in paying its suppliers," they add.

The councilor of the Popular Party Jacobo Medina includes in his criticism the purple formation, which has just joined the government group, questioning that "the policy model of the PSOE and Podemos is to delay payment to suppliers at a key moment for economic recovery such as the one we are in, when hundreds of small and medium-sized companies and freelancers are asking the administrations for help to get ahead and not have to close their doors.”

“While municipalities such as Arrecife have gone from paying in 371 days to 8 days, in the island corporation it takes almost two months,” Medina denounces. “A delay that distances our Cabildo from diligent management and brings it closer to a non-compliant administration, leaving a bad image of the first institution.” “The data reflects two management models where the good work of Astrid Pérez is evident, in relation to Arrecife, and the bad work in relation to the Cabildo of Lanzarote,” he insists.

In this sense, the Popular Group demands that the president, Dolores Corujo, "focus her efforts on putting in order a Cabildo that with this course is not giving a good image to the population, the business fabric of the island and the rest of the institutions of the Canary Islands". “We have had to wait long enough to pay the aid so that we also have suppliers waiting two months to be able to collect for their supplies or services,” Medina warns.
