"It is impossible to attend to immigration and maintain security with the number of national police officers that currently exist"

The PP of Lanzarote has demanded an "immediate" reinforcement of the National Police and Civil Guard personnel "who are overwhelmed by the massive arrival of boats", since, they recall, in just twelve hours six irregular boats have arrived on the island, most of them by their own means.

In this sense, the populars have indicated in a statement that this situation "requires an intervention by the Government of Spain in order to mobilize police personnel with which to deal with the situation of saturation and precariousness that is being experienced in Lanzarote."

"At this point --added the party-- neither lies nor excuses are valid on the part of the Sánchez executive and the Canary Islands Government itself, which is demonstrating its invalidity and submission when it comes to demanding the necessary personnel to attend to the increase in irregular immigration."

Likewise, he has placed special emphasis on the fact that it is an "inaction" and a "lack of response" that "is shameful when we see how both the National Police and the Civil Guard are totally overwhelmed."

Similarly, the PP pointed out that the mayor of Arrecife and island president of the party, Astrid Pérez, warned last week of the shortage of agents and the urgent need to expand the staff to continue guaranteeing the safety of citizens.

"Now that the forecasts of the migratory boom in these months of calm sea are unfortunately being fulfilled, the deficiencies of a system abandoned by the government's neglect are much more evident, unable even to comply with the installation of the SIVE to avoid tragedies and deaths at sea," he concluded.
