The PP candidate in Tías accuses the mayor of financing his campaign with public money and of "promising" jobs at the municipal swimming pool

The candidate for the Popular Party for Mayor of Tías, José Francisco Hernández, has harshly criticized the mayor of the municipality, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, whom he has accused of "financing the campaign with public money." According to Hernández, the mayor "is doing what he has never done, which is to throw the house out the window."

Specifically, he assured this Tuesday on Radio Lanzarote that José Juan Cruz Saavedra "has ordered that different private homes be repaired." "This is being done with City Hall personnel and with City Hall resources," Hernández denounced. "He is giving away cans of paint left and right, he has invited some young people to dinner from the municipality, to whom he has guaranteed a job in the sports center that houses the municipal pool," the popular politician criticized.

But Hernández's accusations do not end here. "Last Friday, the socialist candidate went to the University of La Laguna and invited the university students from the municipality of Tías who study there to dinner and a party. We should ask him if the dinners and parties have been paid for with public money or with money from his pockets," the councilor stressed. In addition, he insisted that José Juan Cruz Saavedra plans to do "the same" with Tías students at the University of Las Palmas.

For all these reasons, Hernández believes that it is time for the City Hall to take "a turn" and for the Popular Party to direct the management in the Consistory. According to him, "the atmosphere in Tías is very favorable to the PP", so he is confident of being able to win the elections on May 22. "You notice this, you perceive it talking to the neighbors, in the street, in the supermarket, in the butcher shop, in the fish market, when you have meetings...", he indicated.

A "constructive" opposition

The popular candidate for Mayor of Tías has admitted that in the legislature there have been confrontations with the government group, but he has assured that "the PP has not sought them." "We have done our opposition work, we have been with the government group in those issues in which we understood that we had to be because they benefited the citizens and the municipality. It is true that we have done a supervisory and control work and we have criticized the government group publicly and we have even gone to the courts when we saw that decisions were being made that harmed the residents of the municipality," he defended, while saying that his work of opposition "has been constructive", both during the government group formed by PSOE-PIL, and in the PSOE-CC.

Hernández has assured that the PP in Tías "is focused on the elections", is meeting with residents and social groups with the aim of "being able to solve the issues" if on May 22 he achieves the Mayor's Office of the municipality. "We have many measures and ideas on how the City Hall should be managed. Due to the current situation, plans for budgetary adjustment, for containing spending, must be drawn up, because austerity must be the first thing," he assured.

Therefore, he insisted that if he becomes the next mayor of the municipality "he will reduce the expenses of public officials with exclusive dedication." "We must contain spending, be austere in spending, but this does not mean that the PP is going to cut social services or meet the needs of the different entities in the municipality, especially sports schools," he said.
