The PP candidate for San Bartolomé denounces the shortcomings in sports and promises a large sports center in Playa Honda

The current Sports Councilor of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and candidate of the Popular Party for the Mayor of San Bartolomé, Lorenzo Reyes, has criticized the "multiple shortcomings" that he claims "the sports facilities of the municipality have been dragging on for some time, many of which have become clearly obsolete and others, such as the handball pavilion, which becomes practically impractical every time it rains due to the leaks."

Reyes toured several facilities in Playa Honda with members of his team and points out that he was able to verify "the serious and almost perennial shortcomings that the socialist government has been unable to solve in almost a decade, such as the lack of changing rooms for the two teams that currently exist." The popular also warn of "the need to change the grass of the soccer field due to its poor condition and also the deficiencies that affect the club itself, which does not have rooms for storage or even a social headquarters, something typical of the 21st century."

"Inter de Playa Honda has been doing an extraordinary job for years and currently has more than 180 children. We believe that the situation is regrettable and above all that there must be equal treatment between the clubs. The shortcomings of the Inter de Playa Honda soccer field are issues that must be solved now," he defended.

For Lorenzo Reyes, "the PSOE does not fulfill its promises nor is it up to the circumstances in the municipality" and assures that "the situation of sports facilities for a nucleus of about 13,000 people that Playa Honda has are just an example." "First they sold a pool with great fanfare that does not exist today, and it is painful to see how our neighbors have to go to other municipalities to use this service, nor have they complied with the municipal gym for Playa Honda."

Lorenzo Reyes, who affirms that the shortcomings of these facilities affect other clubs such as the Lanzarote Rugby Club, has stated that one of the priorities of his government will be "to find the necessary funds so that Playa Honda has a large Sports Center with modern facilities and according to demand." In his opinion, "the most important thing is that no resident has to leave San Bartolomé and go to another municipality to be able to exercise in sports."
