The Popular Party will ask the Cabildo in the next plenary session to support the institutional declaration of the San Bartolomé City Council, which is against the location of the Immigrant Center in the town of Güime. Thus, it was at the beginning of last October when the San Bartolomé City Council, in a session held on October 4, 2006, unanimously adopted by all political groups an institutional declaration regarding the construction of the Center for Internment of Immigrants by the Ministry of the Interior.
The declaration was carried out in response to the request for a municipal urban planning license that had been processed by the Ministry and which was denied by the City Council because its execution is contrary to the urban planning legal system. On the other hand, there is already a plenary agreement, adopted at the initiative of the Popular Party, for the Cabildo to address the Ministries of Defense and Interior requesting that the land expropriated by the State, and on which the old military Polvorín is located, be returned to the City Council of San Bartolomé for public use.
From the Popular Group they understand that the Cabildo must support the content of the institutional declaration approved by the City Council of San Bartolomé and that, it is assumed, has already been transferred to the First Institution. Much more if one takes into account, according to the popular ones, that from Madrid the project of constructing the center in Güime continues to be maintained, according to what emerges from the answers that the Executive has given to the interpellations made by the Popular Party in the Congress.
