The councilors of the Popular Party of Yaiza, Juan Monzón and Guayo Rodríguez, have denounced in a press release "the endless queues that are forming daily at the taxi ranks of Playa Blanca." A fact that they say "is not isolated, but is repeated in several time slots with special incidence in the afternoon, when the queues can reach more than fifty people."
For the spokesman of the Popular Party in the southern City Council, Juan Monzón, this problem is not new since, according to him, "it has been repeated for years as soon as the hotel occupancy rises a little", affecting both visitors to this tourist area and residents who use the service. "In the end, everyone as users pays the consequences of a deficient service and the municipality a bad image that should not correspond to a first-class tourist destination such as Playa Blanca."
Although the council has initiated the procedures for granting ten new licenses, Monzón points out that "this measure alone does not seem to be enough." "We believe that the government of Óscar Noda must delve into the problem once and for all, reviewing the schedules and shifts of each license to guarantee the presence of vehicles during peak hours and not have "official shifts", explains the popular mayor, who insists that this image "damages the Playa Blanca brand as a friendly destination."
From the ranks of the PP, they reiterate the need for the municipality of Yaiza to have "a mobility plan that covers everything from transport to accessibility." A proposal that they already presented in the past term, which was rejected by the government, and which is especially important after the expansion of the port and the launch of new hotel establishments.
