The Popular Party of Haría has denounced "the neglect" of the municipal government with respect to La Garita beach, one of the main bathing areas in the north and "Blue Flag in other times". Thus, they have accused the "successive governments" of the municipality of "apathy and lack of interest" for having "been unable to launch a plan to improve the spaces surrounding the beach."
In this sense, the president of the Local Committee, David Álvarez, has pointed out "the deterioration suffered by the small promenade, which has been the object of successive patches. Lastly, they eliminated the beach bar and the iron structure that was already a danger, but the reality is that no improvement of any kind has been carried out either by one or the other”.
In this sense, they have pointed to the image of "desolation and total abandonment" that the area adjacent to the beach currently offers when “it really is a very attractive space with many possibilities for activities complementary to bathing itself”.
The popular ones have demanded the execution of a remodeling and comprehensive improvement project of the space that "includes the placement of a new pavement, a children's park in good condition, shade elements, street furniture or the conditioning of the sports area, among other actions."
In addition, he added that "passivity and apathy have become the common denominator of the different governments that have passed through the Haría City Council and today the situation of the municipality continues to reflect that lack of involvement in the improvement of public spaces and services”.
For the party, La Garita beach "continues to be one more example of the lack of ideas and political will to implement actions that really improve the quality of life of residents and the image offered to visitors".
David Álvarez has lamented "the terrible situation in which the place finds itself and recalls that, to this day, the walkway to the islet that was damaged by a storm is still out of service".
Thus, they have indicated that the residents "no longer even aspire to one day recovering the blue flag that it lost almost two decades ago, but rather to have a beach with a well-kept environment and with services that today are considered basic, such as a shower on the sand or a ramp for access to the sea for people with reduced mobility. In the end, time passes and everything remains the same because the municipal government is not capable of putting solutions on the table that allow the municipality to move forward”, they highlighted from the PP.
