The Dynamization Plan for Innovation and Quality of the Complementary Offer of Puerto del Carmen, an open document prepared by Consultores Rafael Castellano at the request of the Tías City Council, aroused the interest and questions of the island's business community this Tuesday. From the plenary hall, the content of the document was explained through the Zoom platform and with live broadcast on the Consortium's Facebook.
The mayor, José Juan Cruz, and the president of the Island Council of Lanzarote, María Dolores Corujo, together with Rafael Castellano, presided over this presentation, which included the online participation of Manuel Luaces, director of Luaces Consultores, a company specialized in ISO quality systems.
On behalf of the Lanzarote business community, the members and top representatives of the Lanzarote Business Confederation, the Lanzarote Business Circle, the Lanzarote Construction Association, the Lanzarote Tourism Federation and the Chamber of Commerce were invited to follow the description of the Plan through the Zoom platform.
José Juan Cruz stressed that the reconversion of the tourist area "must go hand in hand with both the City Council and the business sector." He indicated that this Dynamization Plan is connected to the III Modernization Plan of Puerto del Carmen, whose environmental document is in public information, and to the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, in addition to the adaptation of the General Urban Planning Plan to the Canary Islands Land Law.
María Dolores Corujo stressed the importance of "a comprehensive intervention and public-private collaboration" in projects like this, "which will certainly be exported to other tourist municipalities." The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote recalled that the Canary Islands will receive 1,144 million euros from the Government of Spain, so the challenge will be to execute the change of the productive model in the islands.
Working tables
The participants connected through the Zoom platform were able to share their impressions at the end of the presentation. From the City Council of Tías it was announced that "soon" face-to-face working tables will be held, when the health situation allows it, to continue improving the proposals.
The Dynamization Plan for Innovation and Quality of the Complementary Offer of Puerto del Carmen contemplates a program of actions that seeks to activate the complementary offer of the tourist area based on three axes: innovation, sustainability and quality.
It is proposed to intervene with business dynamization actions for small and medium-sized establishments, urban actions to improve the urban space and commitment to quality. The drafting team of the Plan explained that this plan is open to the financing of other administrations and the Tourist Sustainability Plans of the Secretary of State for Tourism.
The proposed lines of action are oriented to provide solutions for integral accessibility, improvement in mobility and incentive for sustainable uses and activities with the increase of the pedestrian network and the bicycle network, improvement of signage in accesses and routes, harmonization of urban furniture and ordering of the occupation of invaded public spaces.
Improvements to the complementary offer are also proposed through consultancies for innovation and quality with business training programs, as well as the implementation of an integrated information system to improve the competitiveness of small and medium-sized businesses.
