The PIL has criticized the budgets of the Arrecife City Council, recently approved initially by the plenary session of the Corporation and amounting to 49,950,000 euros. The formation has assured that these accounts contribute to a "greater fiscal pressure", while the investment for 2014 decreases. In this sense, it has assured that the items for "real investments" in this year "lose one in three euros compared to the previous year".
The PIL has insisted that, according to the budgets provided by the Arrecife government group, the investments planned for 2014 total 3,878,200 euros, which is 12 percent less than in 2013. However, when "delving" into the different items presented, the formation has assured that the "real" investment approved by CC and PSOE "barely exceeds 2.8 million euros", which means "36.5 percent less compared to the 2013 financial year".
The PIL has assured that in order to achieve that investment figure, the government group "has not hesitated to count as its own investments those that will be made with totally external funds, coming from the Cabildo or the Autonomous Community". For example, 220,000 euros are contemplated for the sanitation network, "although the money will be provided by the Cabildo if it does not break its promises again, as usual" and another 400,000 euros for the Agustín de la Hoz House of Culture, despite the fact that the money "comes, if it arrives, from the Government of the Canary Islands".
Also included as investment are the actions in the homes of Valterra and Titerroy, which during 2013 "were not executed and are on their way to having the citizens of these neighborhoods forgotten for another year, except when the elections approach", according to the PIL in a statement.
Accounts that "do not deceive citizens"
This political party has pointed out that, meanwhile, the current state of "abandonment" of the municipality's parks and gardens "matters little to the government team", since it allocates "an insufficient 120,000 euros" for the maintenance of these green spaces. "Seeing these amounts should not surprise us the state in which the parks of our city are currently located," he warned.
Finally, the PIL has demanded budgets in which "the citizen is not deceived with false expectations" and has demanded that CC and PSOE carry out "once and for all the multiple promises unfulfilled year after year".
