The traditional Arrecife market, which until now was located in the Parque Ramírez Cerdá, will move this Wednesday to the Charco de San Ginés, specifically to the area known as "El Pasadizo", in the section between Juan de Quesada street and the intersection of access to La Rocar.
A week ago, the PP councilor in Arrecife, [Ángela Hernández, said that the stallholders were "annoyed"->75783], because since the City Council told them that from "March 13" the location of the market was going to change and that "the communication from the Consistory had been nil." Even, on the 13th, the councilor pointed out that "neither the parking space had been enabled nor was there confirmation" of whether this transfer was going to take place or not.
Finally, the City Council has reported this Tuesday that the market will be located in El Charco from this Wednesday. The Councilor for Tourism, Commerce and Consumption, Rafael Juan González, has pointed out that the new location of this market is "the previous step to the definitive adaptation of this activity to the new regulations that regulate street vending."
A regulation that, among other aspects, requires a control of sales, regulates the aesthetics and characteristics of the stalls, and requires those responsible to have a work permit, as well as be registered in the Tax on Economic Activities and in Social Security.
"We must not forget that these are changes required by law, so we hope that the new location meets the expectations of both market vendors and users," González defended. The councilor pointed out that the market could not continue in the Parque Ramírez Cerdá, since it is located within the environment of the Cultural Interest Asset of the Castillo de San Gabriel.
The 75 stalls that currently make up the Arrecife market will continue to be set up every Wednesday and Thursday of each week, as has been done until now, even maintaining the same hours, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., although in another area.
