The new Substitute General Plan of Yaiza, which came into force last week, is already in court. The first appeal known against this document has been filed by the entity Papagayo Arena, S.L., which represents one of the illegal hotels in Playa Blanca.
The appeal was filed on October 29 before the Superior Court of Justice of the Canary Islands. Now, the Second Section of the Administrative Chamber has already asked the regional Executive to send the administrative file.
This has been made public by the Ministry of Territorial Policy itself, with an announcement in the Official Gazette of the Canary Islands so that "anyone who may appear as interested" is aware of this procedure and appears in it if they deem it appropriate.
The General Plan of Yaiza, which covers a good part of the illegalities committed in Playa Blanca, was finally approved by the Commission for Territorial Planning and Environment of the Canary Islands (Cotmac) on July 29, although it did not formally come into force until December 16.
