The youth of the Canarian Coalition in Lanzarote reject through a statement "the economic waste in the traditional meeting for the elderly in the past San Ginés festivities since they understand that they are not ways of doing politics, much less in the current situation in which we find ourselves, when unemployment figures in Lanzarote exceed 16,000 unemployed, it is painful that the Social Services of Arrecife allocate almost 30,000 euros for a dinner".
In addition, they ask Ascensión Toledo, as representative of the Social Services and organizer of this dinner, to "rethink this type of event since they understand that the more than 6,000 elderly people in Arrecife should be entertained throughout the year and do not share that the money from the entire annual budget of the elderly area for leisure and culture is allocated to a dinner for only 400 people".
Finally, the nationalist youth of Lanzarote defend "the need to have an annual leisure and culture guide for the elderly of Arrecife and despite the long tradition that the meeting of the elderly may have within the program of the San Ginés festivities, the elderly of Arrecife would understand that in the current situation in which we find ourselves this event was something more austere than in previous editions".
