The Cabildo has approved the granting of 1,147 transport grants that will be destined for university students from Lanzarote who are studying on the islands of Gran Canaria and Tenerife. On the other hand, the loan grants for the 2005/2006 academic year were also awarded, in which the Caja de Canarias comes into play, which will be the entity that provides this service to students who require it. In addition, the process of requesting financial aid from educational centers for cultural trips for this end of the year began.

All points were approved unanimously. The ordinary Education and Culture commission was held on Thursday morning with the exclusive participation of the Government group, due to the absence of the opposition, made up of the PIL, Popular Party and Citizen Alternative, because they were participating at that same time in a radio talk show. The PIL, according to Councilor Miguel González, "warned a day before their absence, but the other political parties did not." For his part, Pedro Hernández, councilor for Citizen Alternative, assured that they had agreed to attend the radio program since last week and that they had warned.
