The Local Police of Tías has premiered this week five new vehicles and two motorcycles that contribute to the modernization of the fleet, which until now had not registered new incorporations since 2008. The Municipal Government group, chaired by the popular mayor Pancho Hernández, had announced at the beginning of this year 2014 with the approval of the municipal budgets that this year would be that of security, municipal works and social services, chapters that have had the largest increases in public investments of the City Council of Tías in this last five-year period.
The mayor of Tías, Pancho Hernández, accompanied by the deputy mayor, Mame Fernández, and other councilors of the Government group symbolically handed over the key of one of the new vehicles to the Chief Officer of the Local Police Corps of Tías, Víctor Celso Betancort, present at the event together with other agents.
During the presentation of the renovated police fleet, Mayor Pancho Hernández stressed that "this incorporation will be accompanied in the coming months with the remodeling of the Police headquarters, which has severe deficiencies, and that with an investment close to 400,000 euros will offer an improvement to citizens and a more optimal work to the staff of the local police that will also be increased with more troops from next year".

Pancho Hernández stressed that "this delivery of the new patrol cars and motorcycles seems as if the Three Wise Men have advanced in Tías, at least for our police. They had been waiting for many years, more than 6, for these necessary vehicles. The ones we had already had many breakdowns and required costly maintenance. The Sanitation Plan of the municipal accounts that we have carried out in this time of legislature has now allowed us to face an important investment plan in new works for the towns, in new equipment and endowments for the police and the Municipal Vehicle Fleet, and in the next tender of the Police headquarters. We are investing nearly half a million euros in improvements to strengthen security, one of the pillars of Tías, the main tourist municipality of Lanzarote, where between inhabitants and accommodation places we have about 50,000 people every day in our streets and roads," said the mayor.
Among the new vehicles delivered to the Corps is one that is not labeled with the image of the Police because it will be used for surveillance and camouflage to prevent crime and criminal acts. The mayor of Tías expressly wished that a representation of the Civil Guard of Tías, with a post in Puerto del Carmen, was present at this event. The mayor stressed that "the coordination and close collaboration of all the state security forces and corps reverts to citizens and visiting tourists, and in Tías we have excellent coordination that allows us to continue living in a very safe municipality".
The company Orvecame was the successful bidder for the supply of this new fleet, after the tender held by the Contracting Department of the City Council of Tías. The director of this concessionaire company Pedro Cabrera was present at the event held this Thursday in the parking lot next to the central building of the City Council. Cabrera symbolically handed over the keys of the new fleet of patrol cars to Mayor Pancho Hernández.
