The Cabildo of Lanzarote has initiated the procedure for the renovation of the tiles of the Yellow House, a historic island building that housed the Cabildo House from 1930 to 1997.

The president and head of the Heritage Department of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, assures that this remodeling "responds to the commitment of this Government to care for the historic buildings that exist on the island".

"The Yellow House has lived with us as a symbol of democracy and the growth of our territory, so it is our obligation to promote works that safeguard and rehabilitate everyone's heritage," adds the president.

The vice president and councilor for Planning and Project Coordination, María Jesús Tovar, for her part, asserted that this investment, which amounts to 195,502.99 euros and has been entrusted to the public company TRAGSA, "will resolve the damage caused by the passage of time in this historic building."

"It is our obligation that both residents and tourists visiting us in the capital can enjoy and admire an emblem for the island in the best possible conditions," asserts the vice president

This project is part of the Improvement of the Island's Museum Network initiative, which in turn is integrated into the 2023 Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan. Funding comes from the European Union through the NextGenerationEU mechanism, within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan (PRTR).
