Tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. the winning project will be announced, from the 10 pre-selected by the jury, of the ideas competition for the Puerto - Ciudad de Arrecife performance. The evaluation commission meeting this Monday at the headquarters of the Port Authority in Los Mármoles is finalizing the verdict of the call, the final result of which will mark the future development of the port facility and its integration into the center of the capital.
The finalist works, which will be exhibited at the Sociedad Democracia starting tomorrow, were graded without knowing the names of the authors. As in any competition of this category and to guarantee its cleanliness, the pre-selected projects were identified with a motto. It should be remembered that the project with the best-scored curriculum, that of the Iraqi architect Zaha Hadid, was withdrawn from the competition. The reasons are still unknown.
Expectations
The Puerto - Ciudad performance aims to regenerate an area that, with the passage of time and the evolution of all maritime development, has been losing utility and use.
The competition was opened because it is intended to generate a space for the meeting between the city and the port, to qualify the urban quality of Arrecife through the reconfiguration and improvement of its maritime - port facade, to house necessary parking spaces and improve the road connection between the port and the city. The cruise ship dock in Puerto Naos is the main infrastructure of the Puerto -Ciudad performance.
