On the occasion of World Consumer Rights Day (March 15), the Insular Consumer Information Office of the Cabildo de Lanzarote has strengthened its proximity to the citizenry by moving its attention to the public space this Monday. During the morning, the technical team attends to inquiries and offers advice in La Plazuela, in Arrecife, from 10:00 to 13:00 hours.
This initiative aims to bring closer the services of information, orientation, and defense of consumer rights to the population, facilitating access to specialized advice in an accessible and close environment.
The Consumer Councilor of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, Armando Santana, has highlighted the importance of this type of action to reinforce the protection of citizens. “Our objective is for any person to have easy access to information and advice about their rights as a consumer. Taking the Office to the street is a way to get even closer to people and to remind them that they are not alone when a problem arises with a service or a purchase,” he stated.
Santana also highlighted the fundamental role played by this public service on the island: “Defending consumer rights is an essential task of public administrations. From the Cabildo, we continue to work to offer a close, effective, and accessible service for the entire population”.
Almost a thousand claims handled last year
During the 2025 fiscal year, the Insular Consumer Information Office has served more than 1,700 people in person and has processed a total of 988 complaints, which reflects the importance of this public service for the defense of consumer rights on the island.
From the Institution presided over by Oswaldo Betancort, it is reminded that the Consumer Information Office is available to all citizens throughout the year. Interested persons can attend without the need for a prior appointment during hours from 9:00 to 13:30, from Monday to Friday.
Also, the Office has a telephone assistance service through the number 928 803 367 and the email consumo1@cabildodelanzarote.com, where inquiries can also be made or information requested.
Additionally, the availability of the Cabildo's electronic headquarters is recalled, which allows submitting claims without the need to go in person to the Office, being able to subsequently receive personalized attention by telephone.
