The Youth Center opens its doors in Puerto del Carmen

The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz Saavedra, and the island director of the General State Administration, Orlando Suárez, inaugurated this Thursday the House of Youth, in Puerto del Carmen, a work included in the State Local Investment Fund.

The House of Youth, which had an investment of 342,000 euros, is a one-story building of 207 m2, designed by the Lanzarote architect Luis Díaz Feria, which has a reception, a multipurpose room with four adaptable rooms for the different needs of young people, and is equipped with bathrooms also for the disabled.

The island director highlighted "the important" investment that the Government of Spain has made throughout the State "to encourage employment and face investments." He recalled that in Lanzarote, with the State Investment plans, about 38 million euros have been invested with which 2,180 workers have been hired, 47 more than initially planned. Of that investment, 5.3 million have reached Tías, with which different investments have been faced and work has been given to 530 people, 145 more than planned.

For his part, the mayor of Tías highlighted the importance of the House of Youth in a municipality where 30 percent are young people and the satisfaction of being able to carry out the investment at this time, with the resources provided by the Central Government. Cruz Saavedra said that he hopes that this work, which is located at Calle Bajamar, 17, in Puerto del Carmen, will serve "to boost youth and have a space where they can meet, take courses and organize activities." Cruz Saavedra also pointed out the desire that "in the future a second floor can be faced."
