The Haría City Council signs an agreement with the Recicla Canaria Foundation for waste management

The Haría City Council and the Canary Islands Foundation for Recycling and Sustainable Development, an integrated management system for waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), signed an agreement on November 16 for the correct management and environmental treatment of waste in the municipality. The Mayor of Haría, José Torres Stinga, and the General Director of the Canary Islands Recycling Foundation, Carlota Cruz, as well as the Director of Institutional Relations, Carmen Martínez, were present at the formalization of the agreement.

The devices from the municipality of Haría, which will be managed by the Canary Islands Recycling Foundation, will be of any type belonging to the ten categories in which, according to Royal Decree 208/2005, waste from electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) is distributed.

Each waste collection will be documented by the Canary Islands Recycling Foundation with a certificate that will be delivered at the time of collection or sent by email, as a guarantee that the Haría City Council has delivered the electrical and electronic equipment at the end of its useful life in accordance with current regulations. In addition, the Canary Islands Recycling Foundation will financially compensate the Haría City Council for the costs it has had to incur for the selective collection of electrical and electronic equipment. As Carlota Cruz, general director of the Canary Islands Recycling Foundation, stated, "thanks to the agreement, our entity continues its fight for the protection of the Canary Islands environment".

Likewise, once the waste from electrical and electronic equipment that has been collected has been treated, the corresponding treatment certificates will be delivered, issued by an authorized waste manager, which guarantee the correct environmental management thereof.
