The Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Housing, through the entity Puertos Canarios, has awarded the company Transportes y Excavaciones Tiagua S.L. for 212,941 euros the works to improve the facilities of Puerto del Carmen.
From the Government of the Canary Islands they explain that this action will allow "to adapt the current accesses to the pontoons and renew the pavement of the facilities that present several unevennesses that may pose a risk to users and visitors to the Port".
This intervention has an execution period of five months, and will focus on "renovating the pavement of the promenade and the esplanade that is located in front of the administrative office of Puerto del Carmen". The Government of the Canary Islands recalls that since its construction, between 2008 and 2012, this Port has only had "small actions", so it had detected "the need to carry out a work that would recondition and update the facilities in line with the volume of passengers that is experienced in the area".
The Ministry adds that the works will allow "to waterproof the promenade that runs on the back to avoid leaks to the quarterdecks, which will also be fitted with access doors." Another novelty will be "the installation of speed bumps and access barriers for vehicles that until now did not exist in the area".
In addition, "the urban furniture of garbage containers will be renewed, polyethylene benches will be placed, the current road signs and the fencing of the facilities will be replaced." As for the pavement, the current wood will be replaced "by ash-colored concrete slabs", among other actions.
The Ministry assures that it continues to "advance in the Business Plan of Puertos Canarios, to improve until 2024 the port facilities in terms of conservation and maintenance, with a global investment of 14 million that will be executed in the different ports of the Archipelago".
