The Canary Islands Government Council has approved this Wednesday an expenditure of 9.8 million euros over three years to finance the construction of the El Quintero Center for Early Childhood and Primary Education (CEIP), located in the municipality of San Barlomé.

Last June, the regional Executive had already authorized an initial investment of 400,000 euros to start this long-awaited project, with funds from the Ministry of Education, and has now given the green light to the rest.

The building will have 18 units, which will be distributed in six for Early Childhood Education from three to six years, and 12 additional for students from six to 12 years. For this, a collaboration agreement will be signed with the City Council.

In total, the constructed area will be 4,638 square meters on a plot of 12,020 square meters. "These funds will also serve to cover complementary spaces contemplated in the center's needs program," say the Canary Islands Government.

The investment project includes a disbursement of 400,000 euros for the remainder of this year, while in the next two years the annual payments will amount to 4.7 million each, which totals 9.8 million euros.
