The seven-star flag now flies in the Cabildo of Lanzarote

The national flag of the Canary Islands with the seven green stars has been flying since this Monday in the Cabildo of Lanzarote on the occasion of the 51st anniversary of its creation. The flag was born in Algiers in 1964, and symbolizes "the aspirations of freedom, brotherhood and progress of the people of the eight islands, as well as of the Canarians from abroad, as well as the legitimate right of our people to decide their future in freedom", according to the October 22 Coordinator.

Thus, the mandate of the Plenary of the Cabildo is fulfilled, which approved the motion that had been sent to all the political groups of the Island Council by the October 22 Coordinator. Finally, the defense of the motion of the flag was assumed by the political group of Somos Lanzarote in the Cabildo, to whose votes (2 councilors) were added those of Coalición Canaria (7) and that of the councilor of the Party of Independents of Lanzarote (1). The PSOE group (5 councilors, of which one was absent during the session), the PP (3), Ciudadanos (1) and the councilor of Nueva Canarias (1) voted against the motion. The Podemos group (3 councilors) abstained.
