The first island table of Public Works of Lanzarote is constituted

In it, the Minister of Public Works, Jacobo Medina, announced the increase of 10 million euros in the amount for the Municipal Cooperation Plans

The Cabildo of Lanzarote has constituted this Wednesday the first island table of Public Works, an organ of analysis and debate on the different interventions in roads, infrastructures and elements of public ownership. 

The first meeting was attended by the Councilor for Public Works and Mayor of Arrecife, Yonathan de León; the Councilor of San Bartolomé, Raúl de León, accompanied by the Councilor Marlene Romero; the Councilor of Tías Ulpiano Calero; from Haría, Ambrosio Viñoly; from Tinajo, Luis Miguel Berriel; the Councilor of Teguise, Eugenio Robayna; and the Mayor of Yaiza, Óscar Noda, who attended on behalf of the Councilor of Public Works, who could not attend the meeting. 

“We have agreed on the commitment to maintain a continuous and fluid dialogue between both administrations, so that all the projects to improve the islands of Lanzarote and La Graciosa can be carried out”, explained the councilor, Jacobo Medina. 

Among the different topics that were discussed at this first island table of Public Works, the commitment of the Island Corporation to increase the item of the Municipal Cooperation Plans by a total amount of 10 million euros was highlighted. In addition, Medina also conveyed to the councilors that the economic amount not transferred in 2023, which amounts to a total of 3.6 million, will be compensated.

“We have also committed to allocate a part of the budget of the Canary Islands Development Funds (FDCAN) to the municipalities of the island, depending on the population ratio, so that they have even more budget to undertake these works”, explains Medina.

The Vice President and Councilor of Public Works trusts that "the different town councils of the island comply with what was agreed in the meeting and are loyal to inter-administrative communication". 

“This meeting between the Corporation and the different town councils will have a periodicity of three months, rotating through each of the municipalities, with the aim of strengthening the dialogue and putting on the table the different proposals on public works” concludes Jacobo Medina.
