The Famara Teleclub still has no date to start operating at full capacity

Since October of last year, the bar of the Telecentro de Famara remains closed while the Teguise City Council finalizes the procedures to put its management out to public tender. In April they were told that "only the mayor's signature was missing", and "I don't know what's happening, whether due to incompetence or negligence, the issue is still stalled", explains the treasurer of the Center, César Marrero.

The operation of the bar is important for the management of the Teleclub, since it is the only source of funding. "The club currently does not have a source of income, because the members refuse to pay the fee until the issue of the bar is resolved," the Board of Directors clarifies. During the past Carnivals they took advantage of the sale through the stalls to raise funds and were able to "scratch a few bucks" to buy trash cans and locks for the facilities. "We are trying to make a living," adds Marrero.

And, in addition to the bar, the Telecentro has received some outside visits in recent months, which, together with the "endless works on the bathrooms", and some damage, keep the facilities with various shortcomings. "We have had a blown light bulb for four or five months. We have told both corporations, but it is still the same," denounces César Marrero, "in addition, they broke into the bar, forced the door and today the door is still open. They have emptied the fire extinguishers".

For the moment, the center's courts are enabled, the Library is still in operation and several activities are carried out such as ping pong games, crafts, folklore, in addition to allowing residents access to the Internet through its computer room. But, the Board of Directors of the Telecentro demands that the City Council take charge. "We are not asking Juan Pedro Hernández or José Dimas for the solution. We are asking the Institution".
