The Tías City Council has hired a total of 17 unemployed people from the municipality to work for 6 months full time in different departments of the council, such as Social Services, Roads and Works, Mobile Park, Computing and Tourism. This hiring was carried out thanks to the collaboration agreement with the Island Council of Lanzarote to develop the Extraordinary Plan for Social Employment.
The Extraordinary Plan for Social Employment 2020-2021 is designed to combat the effects of the pandemic and reduce unemployment derived from the health protocols necessary to reduce covid19 infections. The Cabildo de Lanzarote granted the City Council 212,110 euros to carry out the hiring.
The new hires for the program, called “More Employment in Tías: 2020-2021”, are a psychologist, a social educator, a telecommunications engineer, a carpenter, an administrative assistant, two official second bricklayers, two cleaners and beach maintenance and eight public works laborers.
