The Ministry of Roads and Works of the Government of the Canary Islands has proposed a solution for the link that joins the LZ-3 with the LZ-2 in the direction of Arrecife, which currently has a "very complicated and dangerous" exit, as admitted by the Minister of Public Works of the Cabildo, José Antonio Gutiérrez, in an interview on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero. To facilitate this access, the current exit of the LZ-3 will be extended, for which it will be "set back towards San Francisco Javier". In this way, a new lane will be added towards Arrecife, which will also "connect to the partial plan of La Bufona".
Thus, there will be three lanes going towards the entrance of Arrecife, one of which will come from the LZ-3, while to leave the capital there will still be two lanes. At the moment, this complementary project to the Ring Road is not completed and is not financially endowed. "But we are working on it, because it seems to be the best solution. It is the decision we are working with, because it is the most viable," the minister has defended.
On the other hand, the minister has explained that a bridge is being built between the one that was already built and gives access to Maneje and the one that goes up towards the Arrecife cemetery. "It is not new, because it was contemplated in the project. It is true that the Ministry did not want to execute it in its entirety, because that bridge would be useless right now because it has no exit to Arrecife. But what the City Council wants is for it to be executed so that when it develops that land, it already has the bridge made, at least the most basic structure," he said.
José Antonio Gutiérrez recalled that the works of the Arrecife Ring Road began "almost a year later than it should have", but once started "the level of execution has been increasing". "As soon as the detour of Maneje is removed, the progress in these works will be seen," he said.
