The Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium has put out to tender the supply contract for the renovation and expansion of the vehicle fleet with which it provides its services, with an initial budget of 1,580,176 euros.
This is "the largest investment in the 14-year history of the entity", according to the president of the Consortium, Marcos Bergaz, who adds that "the deadline for submitting proposals for those interested extends until August 22nd".
Last May, the plenary session of the Consortium announced the approval to initiate the file, but it was not until this Monday that the deadline for submitting offers by interested companies has begun, which will participate in one of the nine lots for the acquisition of a total of thirteen new assistance, rescue and fire extinguishing vehicles.
Vehicles to be acquired
The tender will allow the Security Consortium to supply two high-autonomy electric vehicles, three equipped jet skis, a combi vehicle, a pick-up van, a heavy urban fire engine, two deterrent vehicles, a ramp and compressor, a light urban fire engine and a heavy vehicle rescue vehicle.
"The new units will be destined both for the Argana Central Fire Station (Arrecife) and the South Park (Yaiza), expanding the mobile park, but also proceeding to renew some of the oldest vehicles," says Marcos Bergaz.
"This historic investment is possible thanks to the extraordinary contribution of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, our majority partner, which fulfills its promise to equip the Consortium with the best material and human resources to improve our response capacity to any incident," continues Bergaz.
Once the offers have been submitted and evaluated, the delivery time for the new units will extend from six to twelve months, given the specificities of the vehicles to be acquired, "some of which have an estimated value of more than 400,000 euros, in the case of the heavy fire engine with an estimated amount of 406,600 euros or the heavy vehicle rescue vehicle, with an initial price of 411,950 euros," the councilor detailed.
To conclude, Bergaz wanted to emphasize that "all these actions are aimed at improving the service we provide to the people of Lanzarote 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, which is none other than ensuring the safety of the property and people of Lanzarote and La Graciosa".
