The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, and the president of the Consortium of Security and Emergencies of Lanzarote, Francisco J. Aparicio, recently presented two new pick-up type vehicles and an inflatable boat, acquisitions that are immediately integrated into the fleet of the fire department to optimize interventions in terrestrial and maritime environments.

“Our commitment is not only to expand the staff, which we will do soon with the incorporation of more than twenty firefighters, but also to do so with material resources. These two new vehicles and the pneumatic increase considerably the safety of the citizens of Lanzarote and La Graciosa,” assured the president, Oswaldo Betancort.

During the presentation ceremony, the president of the Security and Emergencies Consortium, Francisco J. Aparicio, highlighted that these acquisitions are part of the entity's strategic plan for technical modernization to guarantee maximum effectiveness in each service.

In relation to the new resources, Aparicio explained that the two pick-up vehicles will allow for greater agility in rapid movements and fundamental versatility for accessing areas with difficult terrain where large tonnage trucks have limitations.

For its part, the new vessel significantly reinforces the aquatic rescue area, a vital competence for the Consortium, which this year has already managed numerous services on the coast, including rescues and technical assistance at sea.

The arrival of these units is added to other recent milestones in terms of equipment, such as the incorporation of a new 32-meter turntable ladder vehicle and the permanent reinforcement of resources on the eighth island, consolidating an increasingly robust and modern emergency infrastructure.
