The Deputy of the Common opens an investigation into the delay in the opening of the La Destila school

The Ombudsman opens an investigation into the delay in the opening of the La Destila school

The Deputy of the Common, Rafael Yanes, has opened an ex officio investigation in relation to the delay in the opening of the CEIP La Destila, "after complaints received by the parents of the students".

From the Diputación del Común it is pointed out that "they assure that, while the works are finished, their children study in metal barracks, where temperatures become unbearable" and that "they spend recess in outdoor areas without protection from the sun or rain". Likewise, they insist that "they do not have an early pick-up service, dining room or extracurricular activities", a situation that they consider violates their children's rights to "receive a quality education".

For his part, Rafael Yanes states that he will request a report from the Ministry of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands to find out the reasons for the delay in the opening of the new school. At the same time, he points out that he will ask them for the exact date of completion of the works, as well as a report on the conditions in which the school activity is carried out in the provisional school.
