The Yaiza Town Council opened the court for playing futsal and handball in the tourist town of Playa Blanca last Thursday. These works have involved the modernization, repair and leveling of the pavement of the main court, improvement of the bleachers, perimeter fencing, incorporation of furniture and accessibility works, in addition to the implementation of a new children's park, shade areas and calisthenics machines. All this with a municipal investment of 450,000 euros.
The Campos de Lanzarote futsal club premiered the renovated sports facility on Thursday afternoon, where boys and girls of different ages train and compete during the regular season. The mayor of Yaiza points out that "after the new sports center that we built in the urban area of San Marcial del Rubicón, this is the second infrastructure for healthy leisure that we put at the service of citizens during 2023 in the town of Playa Blanca."
For his part, the Councilor for Public Works and Sports, Ángel Lago, highlights "the investment program in sports centers in the municipality with ambitious projects that we undertake with our own resources, as is the case of this court, which in addition to favoring the practice of sports, improves the aesthetics of the area and offers a much more comfortable and friendly place for social interaction among our young people." The Campos de Lanzarote club is linked to the Municipal Sports Schools.
Equally important is the provision of a children's park with shaded areas next to the court and calisthenics machines installed in this same environment. With respect to the actions in parks, Yaiza announces that it will soon open the new inclusive children's park next to the CEIP Uga, while work is progressing on another park in the picnic area of this town.
In terms of sports infrastructure, the City Council is directing its greatest efforts to complete the work to deliver the Playa Blanca Sports Hall for use and enjoyment.
