The Court dismisses Andrés Medina's lawsuit against his expulsion from the Somos Lanzarote group

The Contentious-Administrative Court number 3 of Las Palmas has dismissed the lawsuit of Andrés Medina against the Arrecife City Council for his expulsion from the Somos group, in a ruling signed on April 5.

According to Somos, "the dismissed requests of the plaintiff were to move to the mixed group, that the councilors of Somos Lanzarote move to the mixed group, the dissolution of the group in the City Council, that the Somos Lanzarote Group return the amounts received "unfairly" and that Don Andrés Medina receive those that correspond to them, that the Information Commissions be ordered according to the new number of members of the Mixed Group; that precautionary measures be adopted in this regard and that the Arrecife City Council be condemned to pay costs.

Andrés Medina: condemned to pay costs


In the Judgment, the magistrate not only dismisses each and every one of the claims of Andrés Medina, but, in accordance with the legislation of the contentious-administrative, he is condemned to pay the procedural costs.

In the opinion of Somos Lanzarote, who appeared in the process, "the ruling closes a process evidencing that all procedures were carried out in accordance with the law, and with guarantees."

From the island formation they consider that it also ratifies "the position of Andrés Medina as a defector of the Corporation, who maintains his councilor's seat at the expense of Somos Lanzarote." In this regard, the organization considers that "this process will be finalized with the fair and ethical return of the act of Don Andrés Medina to the voters of Somos Lanzarote."

Finally, Somos Lanzarote believes that with this ruling the "honor of the formation is restored, ratifying the ethical, transparent and democratic exercise of each and every one of its organic and institutional tasks."
