"The Councilor for Social Services has created a head position for herself so she can enter when she stops being a politician"

Andrés Ginés González, representative of the workers for UGT, has rejected the job catalog of the Arrecife City Council for having "a lot of nonsense" and has announced that they will challenge it in court?

The Councilor for Social Services has created a leadership position for herself so she can join when she is no longer a politician.

The workers of the Arrecife City Council have rejected the catalog of the Job Position List (RPT), approved by the government group, which has been rejected by the opposition with the exception of councilor Emilia Perdomo, and also by councilor Pedro de Armas, who abstained. Andrés Ginés González, representative of the workers for UGT, has indicated that this union is going to challenge the catalog in court because it has "a lot of nonsense".

Among other things, Ginés González mentioned that "the number of workers on staff does not match the number included in the catalog", but he also pointed out another "suspicion" that has to do with the councilor for Social Services, Ascensión Toledo. "If you look at the catalog, in the Social Services section, different head positions and sections are created. If right now, the councilor for Social Services decided to leave politics and this catalog is in force, this lady would already have a head position created by her. What I mean is that the councilor has created a head position so that when she stops being a councilor she can enter", he indicated.

Likewise, the union representative insisted that behind this catalog "there is a hidden privatization of services". "The catalog does not include, for example, street cleaning personnel. This makes us suspect a hidden privatization of services", he criticized.

As he explained on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero, this catalog "is an instrument through which the organization of all the City Council personnel, both civil servants and employees, is carried out". "It will mark the future for all workers by allowing internal administrative careers or setting the levels of supplements that will be charged", he pointed out.

The workers believe that this catalog has been made "from the imposition of the government group". "We have not had time to study the catalog, which has not been made by City Council workers, but by a person who was brought in on a commission of service and made a catalog without knowing the reality of the City Council itself".

"We do not rule out any measures"

About 180 workers, out of the approximately 400 that make up the staff of the Arrecife City Council, attended an assembly where it was decided to empower the Works Council to adopt "the measures that are necessary in order for the catalog of job position list to remain on the table". "We consider that the catalog is necessary, but it has to be participatory, transparent and not imposed.

Faced with this situation, Ginés González has assured that the workers "will not rule out any measures" to get this catalog to remain on the table. "We have not talked about strikes, but we have considered other types of actions that will surely have their result", he indicated this Monday on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero.
