The councilman denies the dismissal of the head of Civil Protection: "What we have done is reorganize"

The Councilor for Citizen Security of Yaiza, Javier Camacho, has this Monday come out against the accusations of San Borondón, who this weekend denounced the "dismissal" of the Head of the Civil Protection Group. The party assured that the City Council dismissed Patrick Cazorla and placed someone "close to Unidos por Yaiza" as coordinator, the mayor's party, which it accuses of maintaining a "dictatorial" attitude. The councilor, however, affirms that there was no such dismissal, but rather a "reorganization" and a "delegation" of functions.

"There has been no dismissal. He is appointed as fire chief and continues as fire chief," Camacho said on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero, thus emphasizing that Cazorla continues to hold the same position. The councilor affirms that "only a coordinator has been appointed" because until now "there wasn't one." According to him, although until now "a good job was done and everything went more or less well," it was necessary to "reorganize and delegate" because "if it was not delegated, there were uncovered areas, sports events and uncovered events."

A heated meeting

In its statement of complaint, San Borondón also referred to the meeting of Civil Protection personnel that took place last Friday. According to them, the meeting was "heated", with "reproaches" from the volunteers, who showed their "opposition" to the appointment of Juan Cáceres as coordinator. The party assured that Cáceres finally resigned from his new position "in the face of the refusal of the group of volunteers and as a form of protest."

Camacho, for his part, does not deny that the meeting was heated because Cazorla had "many followers", but explains Cáceres' resignation in other terms. The councilor has assured that this resignation on the eve of the IV Timanfaya Triathlon occurred due to "family problems." For San Borondón, all of this put the celebration of the event "in danger." Camacho, for his part, assures that "everything went great." Faced with Cáceres' resignation, the City Council had to resort to the Consortium for the coordination of that event and the VII Vuelta a Playa Blanca in Handbike. "That's why we are paying the economic part to the Consortium and it has to comply," he says in this regard.

Javier Camacho has explained that, after Cáceres' resignation, he will be the one to head the department, until a new coordinator is appointed "over time." Meanwhile, he has explained that Cazorla will continue as fire chief. In any case, the councilor does not believe the accusation, and has reiterated on several occasions that there was "no dismissal." "You have to read the documentation before speaking," he emphasizes.
