The Civil Guard intercepts a boat with two immigrants, one of whom has been arrested

The Civil Guard has intercepted a boat with two Moroccans on board three miles from the island of La Graciosa. One of them, the skipper, has been arrested and the other immigrant has been transferred to the National Police Station.

It was the patrol boat of the Benemérita that located them at around five o'clock this Saturday morning. They have been transferred to Puerto Naos and once on land they have been attended by the Immediate Response Team of Humanitarian Aid to Immigrants of the Red Cross. The Red Cross volunteers have assisted them and have confirmed that the two immigrants, two middle-aged men, were in good health, so they have not needed to be transferred to the Molina Orosa Hospital.

Once attended, one of them, the skipper of the boat, has been arrested by the Civil Guard and brought to justice for an alleged crime of illegal trafficking of people. The other immigrant has been placed at the disposal of the National Police of Arrecife, which is responsible for matters of immigration.
