The City Councils will have one more year to complete the works of the Municipal Cooperation Plan of 2020

The execution period is extended until September 30, 2023, while the justification period will be until October 31, 2023

The Governing Council of the Cabildo of Lanzarote approved last Monday extending the execution period of some of the projects included in the Municipal Cooperation Plan 2020, attending to the requests submitted by the municipalities of the island. 

Specifically, the deadline for the execution of the works has been extended until September 30 of next year. Consequently, and in parallel, the Governing Council of the Cabildo agreed to extend the deadline for justifying said projects until October 31, 2023.  

“Given the difficulties that the town councils have encountered in order to execute some of the projects, we have decided to attend to their demands and grant a new extension that allows them to complete the planned works; actions financed by this Cabildo that will serve to improve the infrastructure of the island, contributing to increasing the well-being of citizens”, says the president of the first island corporation, María Dolores Corujo. 

 

Projects of the Municipal Cooperation Plan 2020

It should be remembered that said plan had a financial sheet of 8.6 million euros from the Cabildo's own funds, of which 3,246,409.40 were paid to the Arrecife City Council, 403,806.42 euros to the Haría City Council and 1,067,051.05 euros to that of San Bartolomé. The investment of the Municipal Cooperation Plan 2020 in Teguise amounted to 1,286,427.24 euros, while the Tías City Council received 1,138,742.36 euros, the Tinajo City Council received 466,849.14 euros and the Yaiza City Council a total of 990,914.37 euros.

For the municipality of Arrecife, the project included projects such as the adaptation and legalization of playgrounds and bio-healthy areas, the remodeling of the changing rooms and adaptations to the accessibility law of the Argana Alta field, the modification to the Adaptation project and activity for the legalization of the Titerroy multi-purpose court, the optimization and bastioning of the municipal information system, and the renovation of the public lighting of the Charco de San Ginés.

For its part, the Haría City Council was going to allocate the funds to finance the repaving of El Dice, El Callejón, Las Casillas and Alpidio Curbelo streets in Máguez, as well as Arco Iris street in Arrieta. In addition, the partial conditioning of the CEIP San Juan for its use as a nursery school was included.

Regarding San Bartolomé, the projects for adaptation and facilities in the San Bartolomé Sports Center, the expansion of the cemetery, the works for a new surface and sidewalks on Los Veroles street and a section of La Molina street and the purchase and sale of the land located on Párroco Martín street were contemplated.

Through the Municipal Cooperation Plan 2020, the Teguise City Council was going to face the projects of rehabilitation and improvement of the sports courts and playgrounds of Tahíche; the reform of the Sociocultural Center “Fomento de Tao”, covered court for Canarian ball and multipurpose rooms for the Elderly and youth; the basic and execution project for conditioning a green area for leisure in Tahíche; the public lighting facilities on Islas Canarias Avenue, Las Olas street and adjacent streets in Costa Teguise; the supply of 38 compact LED solar lights; and the basic and execution project for Adaptation of the Technical Office.

For the municipality of Tías, the Municipal Cooperation Plan 2020 included the general conditioning and renovation of the Puerto del Carmen soccer field, as well as the project for adaptation and various facilities for a multi-purpose building.

In the case of Tinajo, the City Council planned to allocate the funds to finance the projects for the renovation of the municipal offices and the sociocultural centers of La Santa and El Cuchillo, as well as the resurfacing of El Guirre and Capellanía streets. 

Finally, for the municipality of Yaiza, the actions of repair and implementation of playgrounds were included; the basic and execution project of point 3 pre-collection of waste in Playa Blanca, the project of the Municipal Shooting Range; the supply of different urban furniture for squares in the municipality, and the project of intervention of urban vertical signage of the municipality.
