The City Council will monitor the expropriations of residents affected by the Tahíche road

The Plenary of the Teguise City Council approved in its last session the request made by the Popular Party for the Consistory to carry out a "close and exhaustive" monitoring of the forced expropriations of the properties of the people affected by the expansion of the Tahiche road. For the Popular Party councilor Roger Deign, "the City Council must ensure the interests of those affected and, in some way, ensure that the residents, who are going to pay a certain price for the benefit of the vast majority of the people of Lanzarote, receive careful and fair treatment."

The Popular Party believes that, "after the number of errors that occurred in the first list, municipal supervision is more than justified at this time, when the new list with the 244 affected residents is in a period of exhibition and allegations."

For Deign, the actions of the City Council would not involve any additional expense, "since it would be enough to enable a person in the technical office to inform citizens of their obligations and rights, under the protection of the Forced Expropriation Law."

Meanwhile, a meeting of the residents of Tahíche with the mayor of Teguise, Jósé Dimas Martín, and the vice president of the Cabildo and councilor of Public Works, Fabián Martín, is scheduled for this Friday afternoon to address the issue again, in which those affected intend to explain "how the town will look when said road is built."
