The City Council will hand over the land for the new Medical Clinic of Tinajo to the Minister of Health tomorrow

The mayor, very satisfied with the reduction of fines for illegal houses in Tinajo, assures that 98 percent of the constructions built "as a first necessity" will enjoy this "amnesty"

The Tinajo City Council wants to hand over the land for the upcoming construction of the new Medical Clinic to the Minister of Health of the Canary Islands Government, María del Mar Julios. The Minister and Vice President of the regional Executive visits Lanzarote next Thursday and, as the Tinajo City Council has proposed not to lose the budget item for this year, this Tuesday it held a plenary session that the opposition could not attend to speed up the registration of the plot.

The Tinajo City Council approved the modification due to an error in the meters and in the valuation of the land of the Urban Agreement between the City Council and the entity Feldpausch S.A., regarding the transfer of the land for the construction of the Medical Clinic, approved in the session of August 10.

In this regard, the plenary session corrected an error in the deeds and unanimously approved the modification of the number of meters and the valuation of the plot that the Tinajo City Council plans to hand over to the Government of the Canary Islands for the construction of the new Medical Clinic.

Registration in the Registry as well as the delivery of documentation to the notary is scheduled for this Wednesday.

That was precisely the reason why the plenary session was convened urgently. "I promised to hand over the land to the Minister of Health of the regional Government, María del Mar Julios, and we have been waiting for two years and we do not want to lose the budget item for the new Medical Center of Tinajo", explained the mayor, Jesús Machín, at the end of the plenary session.

The land is valued at 125,000 euros and, instead of 1,123 square meters in which its extension was estimated, it has 1,800 meters of which 46 percent of the action units will correspond to the company Feldpausch, S.A., specifically to the owner of the land, Antonio López, and who has transferred the land.

When the new Medical Center of the municipality is built and inaugurated, the City Council's own headquarters will gain a large space in which various technical offices will meet in addition to the Cadastre, and even a new barracks will be built for the Local Police of Tinajo.

Released Councilor

The government group also agreed on the designation of the Corporation position to be performed on an exclusive dedication basis and its remuneration. Thus, the government group unanimously decided to release the Councilor for Youth, Agriculture, Livestock and Traffic, now also coordinator of the Local Police, Antonio Morales, who will receive about 1,440 euros (240,000 pesetas) per month.

Machín also announced that in the afternoon, during the celebration of World Tourism Day at the social house of Tinajo and the award ceremony of the "Important and Distinguished of Tourism" awards, he would claim a new parking lot for the Timanfaya Park on municipal land.

Amnesty for homes

The mayor also expressed his satisfaction for Adán Martín's commitment to reduce by up to 90% the fines imposed on all homes not covered by a license that are located in the municipality of Tinajo.

Machín applauded the commitment assumed by the Minister of Territorial Planning and Environment of the autonomous Executive, Domingo Berriel, which he said will allow the sanctions of practically 98 percent of the affected homes not to exceed 600 euros.

"It is very good news for Tinajo and for all of Lanzarote, since it is a fight that we have been practicing for some time", said Machín, who could not hide his personal satisfaction as well as that of the residents for the two cases that have already come out of the courts and that have been favorable to the interests of the residents, ruling against the Agency for the Protection of the Urban and Natural Environment, department of the regional Executive.

Machín asked that both authorities and citizens know how to differentiate between constructions "built out of necessity, as homes of first necessity", from others in which "certain people benefit from some type of exploitation".
