The City Council meets with business owners to discuss the III Modernization Plan for Puerto del Carmen

A wide representation of the business community of the island of Lanzarote attended this Monday the work meeting that took place from 11:30 am in El Fondeadero of Puerto del Carmen to delve into the proposal of the III Modernization Plan of Puerto del Carmen

The mayor of Tías, José Juan Cruz, chaired the table together with the deputy mayors, Mame Fernández and Nicolás Saavedra, accompanied by the president of the Lanzarote Tourist Federation, Susana Pérez, and the person in charge of explaining the proposal, Rafael Castellano.

"We are doing everything possible to reactivate the economy," said the mayor, who therefore pointed out that the Technical Office already has a new architect, "who works with his professional colleague to respond to the numerous files that were pending." "We are speeding up all the procedures that were without response," he declared.

For her part, the president of the Lanzarote Tourist Federation, Susana Pérez, congratulated the City Council for having taken the initiative to start working meetings such as the one held during the morning of this Monday in El Fondeadero, "whose call speaks for itself." Pérez also valued the numerous attendance of businessmen and affirmed that the tourism sector is committed to the modernization of Puerto del Carmen.

The City Council of Tías convened to this technical day the representatives and associates of the Tourist Federation of Lanzarote; of the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation of Lanzarote; of the Association of Construction Entrepreneurs of Lanzarote; and of the official colleges of Canarian Architects of Lanzarote, Surveyors and Technical Architects of Lanzarote, Technical Telecommunications Engineers of Lanzarote and Technical Engineers of Public Works of Las Palmas.

Operational accommodation places

Both José Juan Cruz and Susana Pérez explained that one of the issues to be defined to work on the Modernization Plan is the exact number of accommodation places that are operational in the town of Puerto del Carmen. "From the municipal government we are already working so that the technicians of the City Council and the Island Council of Lanzarote meet and check the exact number of tourist beds," Curz said.

The mayor also detailed the state of execution of the first and second Modernization Plan of Puerto del Carmen, whose first document was a pioneer in the Canary archipelago.
