"We face this issue with absolute normality." This is how the Secretary of Communication of CC in Lanzarote, Echedey Eugenio, spoke this Wednesday, after the party leadership received a summons from the judge for March 13 with the aim of clarifying the validity or not of the insular Congress of CC, after the complaint filed by Inés Rojas. This Congress was held on December 1, 2012 and David de la Hoz was elected as general secretary.
Echedey Eugenio believes that "as soon as the judge receives the documentation" and hears the explanations of the CC leadership, "he will settle the matter or understand that he does not", but he has the "confidence that the process has been adequate". "The judge will do what he has to do," he said.
Before a hearing is held, both the list that was headed by the councilor Inés Rojas, who finally did not appear and challenged the Congress, and the CC leadership can reach an agreement. "That option is there and will be worked on. Two parties understand each other if both want to. If one does not want to, we will continue on the line that has been marked in the judicial channel, having the peace of mind that the processes have been adequate, as the rules dictated," he insisted.
"It will not change the situation at all"
Eugenio has "doubts" that the judge "will not validate the Congress", because "everything has been done according to the regulations". "It may be that I am wrong and that the judge gives the reason to the other party. If that were the case, we will repeat the Congress and we understand that the same majorities that we had at the time will be repeated. I think it will not change the situation at all," he confided.
The Secretary of Communication of CC on the island has insisted that the objective of the party leadership has been "always to try to bring together and group the different sensitivities that exist in CC, but prioritizing the majorities over the minorities, as the rules of the game and Democracy dictate". "If respect for the majorities is maintained, we will reach agreements. If the agreements happen because the majorities give in to the minority, then of course not," he said.
