The Government Council of the Canary Islands has authorized this Thursday the investment of a sum of 1.4 million euros in different educational centers of the archipelago, among which is the expected school of El Quintero. The funds come from the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, which will transfer that sum in this year, and what the regional Executive has done is to authorize the generation of credit from the Ministry of Education to undertake the works.
In total, for the CEIP El Quintero of San Bartolomé, 400,000 euros will be allocated, destined to the "start of the execution of the project", which has accumulated years of waiting. As for the rest of the investment, which amounts to almost 8 million euros in total, it will come from the regional Government's own funds.
The school will have capacity for 18 units and 450 students in a plot of 13,170 square meters.
The rest of the item enabled this Thursday will go to improvement works in a CEIP in Tenerife and another in El Hierro, for the construction of a kindergarten in Tenerife and to complete the improvement works of a sports court in the municipality of Santa Úrsula (Tenerife).
The Government points out that in total, the archipelago will receive 10 million euros from the State for the execution of different actions in the years 2022 and 2023, which include construction works of new centers or extensions of existing ones; drafting of construction projects, execution and demolition; extensions of classrooms and other educational facilities; conditioning and renovation of educational buildings; improvement of accessibility, and acquisition of teaching equipment, furniture and didactic material.
