Canarias Surf Film Festival kicks off in Teguise

The film festival dedicated to surfing, Canarias Surf Film Festival (CSFF), arrives in Teguise, after touring the islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Fuerteventura, islands that register a greater practice of this sport.

The CSFF offer focuses on several nights with screenings of feature films and short films related to surfing, bodyboarding and skateboarding. The titles are the work of local, national and international directors. The festival offers the screening of titles related to the environment, photography exhibitions, musical performances and the presence of special guests.

One of the highlights of this event will be the day that is celebrated in the open sea, called Green Sunday, and that will also serve as the closing of the festival.

On this day, Sunday the 24th in the morning, environmental activities will be carried out such as the cleaning of Famara beach, a paddle out (rowing to the open sea) where all surfers will join hands in a giant circle as a way to claim the protection of the waves and the respect for the ocean, of which aquatic sports such as surfing in all its modalities are great defenders.

The Councilor for Culture, Olivia Duque, has shown her support for this type of initiatives "for its novel character, for valuing one of the sports most practiced in the municipality, as well as for the instructive purpose of the project".

"It is a pleasure for Teguise to host initiatives that connect the passion for sport and the environment in an environment as special as our municipality", declared the mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, who encourages to all the neighbors "to enjoy the activities that instill good values and healthy habits".

The promoter of the event, Chema Cavero, defines the Canarias Surf Film Festival, as "a pioneering project in its mission, which seeks to connect lovers of surfing, art and nature in an environment that unites just these three elements around its wide range of activities".
