The Cabildo will give work to 38 people through a project to fight against climate change

Corujo highlights that the initiative has an investment of 450,000 euros, which will benefit young people and the long-term unemployed

The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Employment area, will promote the creation of employment in the fight against climate change and just ecological transition through the launch of the project 'Recovery and maintenance of water resources of Lanzarote'. Thanks to a subsidy from the Canarian Employment Service (SCE) and the investment of the first island institution, a total of 38 job seekers on the island will benefit from this opportunity to venture into the world of work.

Of the total investment, the SCE contributes 396,065.20 euros and the rest, more than 44,900 euros, come from the Cabildo of Lanzarote. "Through this project we will be able to give work to 38 people, focusing mainly on the long-term unemployed, beneficiaries of the Youth Employment Shock Plan and the Incorpora-T Plan," says María Dolores Corujo.

"In addition to generating opportunities for insertion and labor reorientation for the citizens of Lanzarote, this initiative will also contribute to the efficient use of water resources on our island and to a sustainable management of them, adopting measures that combat climate change," adds the president. 

For her part, the councilor responsible for the Employment area, Nerea Santana, reveals that the works will consist of the conditioning, maintenance and cleaning of natural spaces and rainwater resources on the island and recalls that the project will end on June 30, 2021.

For the development of the initiative, a senior engineer will be hired as project coordinator, four technical engineers who will carry out the planning and supervision of the provision of services, an administrative assistant, two 1st class bricklaying officers, two 1st class quarrying officers and 28 cleaning laborers.
