The Cabildo tenders the works of the future urban park of Playa Honda for 2.3 million

The president and the Minister of Public Works celebrate the launch of an initiative that "recovers and transforms a degraded esplanade next to the IES Playa Honda into a space for meeting and social cohesion"

Playa Honda Urban Park Project

The Cabildo of Lanzarote has put out to public tender the basic and execution project for intervention in the urban park of Playa Honda and Plaza de Guacimeta, a work co-financed by the First Institution and the Regional Development Fund (FEDER), which has a tender budget of 2,323,162 euros.

The intervention contemplates the creation of a large urban park in an esplanade of about 70,0000 square meters attached to the IES Playa Honda ceded by the City Council of San Bartolomé, and the remodeling of the Plaza de Guacimeta, as planned in the project 'Activar el cráter', by Iván Torres and Martín Toimil, winner of the ideas competition.

The president of the Cabildo, María Dolores Corujo, celebrates the upcoming launch of an initiative "that makes a dream come true that began in my time as head of the City Council of San Bartolomé, and that will provide Playa Honda, the municipality and Lanzarote with a habitable and sustainable place essential for social gathering and the physical and mental well-being of people." "Parks are lungs that help to curb climate change on the planet but, at the same time, they are meeting points and exchange of experiences and knowledge that help to preserve the identity of communities," Corujo stressed.

Among other elements, the future Playa Honda Park will have a petanque court, equipment for outdoor gymnastics, a playground, an amphitheater, an artificial lake, a bar, a skate park and a dog park. For its part, the Plaza de Guacimeta will be transformed into a large and multipurpose space that will host cultural, sports and social activities and events.

For his part, the Minister of Public Works of the First Island Institution, Jacobo Medina, points out that "thanks to the Edusi Funds we will be able to rehabilitate a degraded space and transform it into a meeting point for all types of activities, betting on urban quality and social cohesion".

He also stresses that "to connect the Park with the maritime avenue, connection points will be established for the bike lane that we are already executing because the width of the internal roads will allow the passage of both pedestrians and bicycles".

Companies interested in this tender can submit their respective offers until June 3, and access all the documentation through the State Procurement Platform.
