The Cabildo of Lanzarote has put out to public tender the renovation and modernization works of the Insular Slaughterhouse for the pig and sheep-goat slaughter lines, a project whose objective they say is "the renovation of the machinery for the provision of the slaughterhouse service and the improvement of animal welfare and food safety".
The project has a budget of 58,236.93 euros, co-financed by the Canary Islands Development Fund (FDCAN), with the execution period of the actions being two months after the award of the contract and the signing of the site act.
The island councilor for Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries, Ángel Vázquez, points out that "this action aims to improve and adapt facilities that, over the years, have become obsolete, so it is necessary to adapt the machinery to current health regulations".
The new machinery that can be installed once the works are completed consists of two restraint holders, a pig peeler, squaring saws and elevators and channel descenders. Likewise, as the councilor points out, "the offices of the facilities will also be renovated, due to the humidity detected in the roof of the same".
In this way, a new partition will be demolished and executed to redistribute the interior of the facilities and a new sanitary pavement will be installed, covered with a camera panel, plumbing, sanitation and electricity installations (taking advantage of the existing installations), the humidity will be repaired, PYL lining, carpentry and paintings.
