The Cabildo begins the works to build four paddle tennis courts in the Sports City for 131,200 euros

The Cabildo of Lanzarote has started the construction works for four public paddle tennis courts in the facilities of the Sports City, according to reports from the first island institution. The project has been awarded "at a low price" for an amount of 131,200 euros and has an execution period of three months.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Pedro San Ginés, has detailed that "in Lanzarote there are multiple private courts, located mainly in tourist-hotel areas and spaces, and given the potential demand from both residents of Arrecife and other citizens of the island, and even tourists, the Cabildo of Lanzarote is undertaking the works for the construction of these four public courts, two adapted for high competition and two for recreation".

With this, the president of the Island Corporation points out, "the institution intends to continue improving the existing sports facilities, adapting them to sports that are in high demand, such as this one, which is gaining more and more followers on the island".

Characteristics

Based on the project, four 20x10 glass paddle tennis courts will be built. Two of them will have a regulatory separation of two meters as a safety zone and outdoor play area, with four doors per court. The other two, which are positioned parallel to the first ones, will be attached on their long side, with access only from one of their sides. This arrangement will allow for two courts adapted for high competition.

Among other characteristics of the project, they will be built with 12 mm thick tempered glass, the game net will be placed on specific posts for paddle tennis, the lighting will consist of eight projectors, and artificial turf for this sport will be placed on the concrete and will be suitable for use on a paddle tennis court. The building also complies with the accessibility regulations for public buildings, according to reports from the Cabildo.
