The Cabildo of Lanzarote has started, in collaboration with the town councils, the distribution of batches of food products, prepared by volunteer staff from the Tourist Centers, to compensate for the closure of school canteens. The composition of the batch of products has been determined by specialists, who have taken into account covering the main nutritional needs of the minors, and includes essential personal hygiene and cleaning products.
The tasks of preparing the batches began this Thursday at 11:00 a.m. and they will be destined for 494 families. The first island institution has been in charge of acquiring the basic necessities whose distribution will be done in coordination with the town councils and with the collaboration of the Centers, in charge of preparing the batches.
"Our commitment is to avoid displacements and the presence of these families in supermarkets, so we have preferred to stay out of the voucher system, implemented in other islands, and take responsibility for the preparation of the batches and their distribution", Corujo pointed out.
