The Cabildo requests the collaboration of the City Council for an energy efficiency project in Arrecife

The objective is to implement improvements in the thermal envelope of the council building to fight against climate change

The Cabildo of Lanzarote has requested cooperation from the City Council to carry out an energy improvement project in the council building, with the aim of having "kinder" facilities for the environment.

Called "Improvement of energy efficiency through replacement of the thermal envelope of the building of the Arrecife City Council", this idea is part of the Action Plan against climate change promoted by the Cabildo.

The project promoted by the Cabildo "will study and define the set of actions for the execution of improvements in the thermal envelope of the building, following the recommendations issued in the audit to optimize both energy efficiency and electricity consumption of the building".

The Councilor for Industry and Energy of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Ariagona González, recalled that the action is in line with the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan (PNIEC) 2021-2030, which aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by at least 23% in 2030 compared to the national figures of 1990.

"The Cabildo of Lanzarote thus continues to apply its line of work based on reducing dependence on fossil fuels and reducing polluting emissions, something we pursue not only with the deployment of renewable energies, but also by improving energy efficiency in the daily activity of the people of Lanzarote", says Ariagona González; who also emphasizes that "Arrecife is once again the destination of another of our interventions in energy matters, another example of the current Government's commitment to improving the quality of life in the island's capital".

The financing is obtained through the island Corporation of the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF), through its program "A way of making Europe".
